St. Catharines Animal Hospital
At St. Catharines Animal Hospital, we focus on compassionate caring veterinary surgery, taking your pet’s unique needs into consideration.
We provide many surgical services for cats and dogs ranging from routine spay and neuters to more complex surgeries, including soft tissue surgeries, dentistry, and even ocular surgery. Occasionally we will refer our patients to board-certified veterinary surgeons for more complex specialized surgeries. For Orthopedic surgeries, we can contact our Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Swayne. She is able to have your pet brought in to our clinic for the surgery, instead of having to bring them elsewhere for the procedure.
Common types of surgeries we perform are:
Spaying and Neutering
Oral Surgery/ Dentistry
Soft Tissue Surgeries
Biopsy
Exploratory Surgeries
Cesarians
Abscess and Wound repairs
Cystotomy
Before Surgery
Our Veterinarians and Staff are here to help explain any questions you may have regarding your dog or cat’s surgery. Prior to surgery, our doctors will complete a detailed physical with you present. The doctor will then be able to discuss their findings and concerns with you. Our doctors are committed to ensuring you understand and are comfortable with the procedure your pet is going to undergo. They will explain the procedure in detail, and provide you with an estimate they create for you during the visit.
Our facility comes equipped with an advanced in-house laboratory and diagnostic services. Depending on your pet’s needs, our doctors may recommend running pre-anaesthetic bloodwork or even x-rays prior to a procedure to ensure that they have all of the information to best help them proceed.
During Surgery
We understand that surgery can be stressful for both yourself and your pets. We strive to ensure that any animals within our care are treated as one of our own, after all, we are pet owners and lovers too.
To provide exceptional care we utilize up-to-date anaesthetic protocols and specialized monitoring equipment. Our Veterinary technicians and assistants are always there to help our Veterinarians and monitor all vitals during every surgery.
After Surgery
Once surgery is complete, we will always keep each animal in our care for at least a few hours to ensure they are recovering well and being monitored for anything out of the ordinary that could possibly occur.
Please feel free to contact us today to schedule an appointment, or provide more information regarding the surgeries we are able to perform.
